Teen Stress Reduction: Calming Anxiety through Aerial Yoga and Mindfulness
This class teaches teens to reduce stress and anxiety through guided instruction in fun sensory-based activities. Each session includes mindfulness of the breath and mindfulness of movement (calming yoga postures on land and in the air). Teens will learn to identify thoughts and emotions and relate them to experiences through games and/or art activities. These simple mindfulness practices help teens to deal with anxiety, improve concentration, and handle difficult emotions. Please note this is a gentle aerial yoga class meant to reduce anxiety and stress. If your teen is wanting a more challenging aerial class Mixed Level or Level Two (permission required) is recommended.

Teen & Children’s Mindfulness + Aerial Yoga Classes
Our 12-week classes teach aerial techniques and mindfulness to calm the body and the mind. Each session includes sensory stations, which introduce mindfulness of the breath and mindfulness of movement (calming yoga postures on land and in the air). These simple mindfulness practices help children improve concentration, enhance executive functioning, and handle difficult emotions.
All aerial courses are mindfulness-based and taught by Dr. Tracy. We have various levels based on ability and experience. Each 12-week session has a different theme, but all of our class are unique and FUN. Space is limited to 10 children in all aerial classes. For details click on the “Children and Teen Classes” link.

Mindful Child Wellness does not offer make-up classes. It is highly encouraged that students attend all classes. However, we keep classes small enough so that we can always catch kids up if they have missed a class.
Mindful Child Wellness has a NO refund policy. Your child’s registration holds a spot in our classes/camps/private sessions with limited space/hammocks. Deposits are always non-refundable, as they pay for registration, supplies and payroll. Once you register for a program, we commit to supporting your child through the entire semester, and we want our families to return that commitment. We also teach in a way that supports research-based social and emotional learning.
We are no longer offering drop-ins. If you are unsure if you’d like to sign up for our classes, we’d love to have you at a FREE TRIAL CLASS !
Mindful Child Wellness requires that all children be registered and prepayment online is required before they can attend classes. We limit our classes to 10 children and we cannot take payments right before class as it takes time away from our students.
WHAT TO BRING: Please bring a water bottle. There’s no need to bring a yoga mat. We practice on padded yoga flooring.
WHAT TO WEAR: PLEASE, REMOVE JEWELRY! Stud earrings are okay. Come dressed in comfortable clothing free of snaps, zips or exposed buckles that could snag the hammock fabric. We will practice yoga barefoot so all shoes and socks will be dropped at the door.
WEAR LEGGINGS OR PANTS! Yes, we know it’s hot in the summer, but it is highly recommended that kids wear leggings or pants to protect their skin as they move in the yoga fabric. When they do poses in the fabric with short shorts or leotards, it may be uncomfortable and limit participation. Loose and comfortable cotton pants, yoga pants or leggings are perfect!
Behavior and character trait expectations:

1). Be mindful of yourself and those around you
2). Be kind and respectful to yourself, to others in the classroom, and to the instructors.

Behavioral expectations for each child are to:

** If a child is unable to meet these expectations in a group setting, you have the option of enrolling in private sessions in preparation for group work or enrolling in the support program for an additional $180/semester, which assigns an additional helper to support your child’s individual needs in class. Mindful Child Wellness reserves the right to remove or transfer a child that is unable to meet the above expectations to ensure safety of all children and to honor the time and practice of all enrolled.
** Due to liability issues we cannot have parents or siblings in the studio during sessions. We allow a 10 minute presentation the last day of our aerial class sessions in which one parent may enter the studio and watch a short aerial presentation.
